The company’s latest advancements include high-horsepower hybrid tractors and distributed electric-drive mobile cranes, supported by a specialized internal development platform. This infrastructure enables the cross-segment application of battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and hybrid powertrains. By the end of 2025, Zoomlion had expanded its green portfolio to include nearly 60 newly developed models, bringing its total new-energy product count to 240.
Zoomlion Shifts Heavy Machinery Toward Hybrid and Electric Power
At its 7th Science and Technology Innovation Conference, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology unveiled five major breakthroughs in electric-drive and hybrid systems. The Changsha-based manufacturer is rapidly integrating these technologies across its mining, agricultural, and construction fleets to lower fuel consumption and enhance machine intelligence.
Efficiency gains remain central to this transition. Zoomlion reports that its hybrid wheat harvesters have cut fuel consumption by 30%, while hybrid tractors show an 8% improvement. In the mining sector, the company has deployed chassis-by-wire technology in unmanned trucks, utilizing a three-level braking system to ensure safety in rugged terrain. Ou Biao, director of the Vehicle Control Institute, noted that these innovations stem from rigorous field testing and a focus on solving technical hurdles directly in the environments where customers operate. The firm now plans to deepen its global engagement to tailor these new-energy solutions to specific regional requirements.
