The American Chemical Society will formally honor the company at its August 26 meeting in Chicago. According to CEO Dr. Stephen Mayfield, the recognition serves as proof that modest research budgets can effectively tackle systemic pollution. The company developed the technology to mirror the durability and abrasion resistance of traditional plastics without the long-term environmental footprint.
Soleic components—including foams and thermoplastic polyurethanes—are derived from non-food plant feedstocks and hold USDA BioPreferred certification. Independent life cycle assessments by TrueNorth Collective indicate the platform achieves a 50–65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to standard petroleum-based manufacturing. Unlike traditional materials that merely fragment, these products undergo full mineralization into CO2 and biomass, a process validated by ASTM and ISO testing standards.
