Kinetics Begins Construction of First High-Capacity FSRU in Singapore

At Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore, Kinetics has officially commenced construction on the LNGT Karadeniz, its first high-capacity Floating Storage and Regasification Unit. This vessel, capable of delivering 600 million standard cubic feet per day, signals a strategic shift toward larger, more versatile LNG infrastructure for global energy markets.

The project serves as the flagship for a new series of next-generation units designed to bolster international energy security. Equipped with low, medium, and high-pressure send-out systems, the vessel integrates advanced regasification technology with complex marine and terminal infrastructure. By incorporating spread mooring systems and automated cargo handling, the unit functions as a self-contained floating terminal, engineered for rapid deployment to regions seeking to diversify their energy supply chains.

Mehmet Katmer, General Manager of Kinetics, described the milestone as a key progression in the company’s long-term vision to support transitions toward lower-carbon systems. The initiative, backed by Karpowership, aims to address the rising global demand for flexible gas solutions by combining engineering expertise with the ability to scale import capacity. Following the steel-cutting ceremony, the vessel moves into a development phase that emphasizes both operational efficiency and safety standards, reinforcing Kinetics' role in the expanding market for floating energy assets.
