FanDuel Sets Sights on Alberta Market with July Launch

FanDuel is poised to bring its sportsbook and casino platform to Alberta on July 13, pending final regulatory approval. The expansion marks a significant push for the company, which is pairing its entry with a series of local philanthropic investments and expanded partnerships across the province.

Dale Hooper, General Manager of FanDuel Canada, framed the move as a new chapter for the brand, emphasizing a commitment to community engagement alongside the rollout of their betting products. Residents aged 18 and older are already eligible to register accounts via the company’s website ahead of the official launch date.

Beyond the platform itself, FanDuel is anchoring its arrival with financial support for regional initiatives. The company is donating $50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation for mental health programming and $30,000 to the Canadian Red Cross for emergency management efforts. These contributions build on a multi-year history of support, including a record-breaking $260,000 raised for the Calgary Stampede Foundation during this year’s Cowboys Stampede Showdown.

Commercial ties are also deepening. FanDuel has secured an exclusive partnership with Light & Wonder to bring the Huff N' Puff game franchise to Alberta players. Furthermore, the company has extended its agreement with the Canadian Football League, expanding its reach beyond Ontario to include Alberta. This partnership becomes particularly visible as Calgary’s McMahon Stadium prepares to host the 113th Grey Cup on November 15, 2026.
