The annual rankings evaluate organizations on core metrics such as compensation packages, work-life balance, career development, and physical and psychological comfort in the workplace. For the health plan provider, which employs 6,800 people and serves nearly 6 million members, the recognition underscores a strategic push to align internal culture with its public mission.

Haley Mixon, the company’s chief human resources officer, credited the achievement to a culture that prioritizes people and mission-driven engagement. This sentiment was echoed by CEO Mike Stuart, who highlighted the staff’s commitment to building a more affordable healthcare system as the primary driver behind the company’s workplace environment. Founded in 1939, the organization continues to manage over $28 billion in annual revenue while maintaining its independent status within the Blue Shield Association.
