Northeast Louisiana Launches Regional Mobile Crisis Response Network
Twelve parishes across Northeast Louisiana are moving toward a community-based mental health model, as the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority and Growing Hope Recovery unveil a coordinated mobile crisis system. The initiative aims to shift intervention away from emergency rooms and law enforcement, providing direct, specialized field support.
Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, executive director of NEDHSA, described the initiative as a fundamental departure from existing reliance on hospitals and police, focusing instead on embedding trained responders within the community. Growing Hope founder Cecilia Sullivan noted that the program is designed to bridge significant gaps in the current continuum of care. By aligning with local hospitals, EMS, and insurance providers, the system intends to ensure that patients receive appropriate, low-acuity care pathways rather than immediate institutionalization. This launch marks a significant expansion for NEDHSA, which has spent recent years scaling its regional footprint in harm reduction and integrated healthcare services.
