Running from September 19 through December 13, 2026, the exhibition marks a significant expansion in scale, with 45 newly invited artists joining the roster. Under the guidance of artistic director Isabelle Bertolotti and curator Catherine Nichols, the event emphasizes a broad demographic and geographic range: 68% of the participants are women, and nearly a quarter are under 35. The program includes 65 new creations alongside 12 adaptations, reflecting a commitment to fresh, site-specific work.
The biennale also incorporates a new exhibition space, the Cour des Loges in Old Lyon. This Renaissance-era site, known for its historic traboules and Florentine courtyard, will host contemporary works that engage with the theme of memory and imagination. These new additions complement established locations like Les Grandes Locos and the Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon (macLYON), ensuring the art is woven into the city’s historic fabric.
