Since the disaster struck, World Central Kitchen has worked alongside more than 50 local restaurant partners in Miranda, La Guaira, and Carabobo to reach displaced residents and first responders. This partnership with Mars, which began in 2022, emphasizes rapid local mobilization to address immediate food insecurity. Tunde Wackman, Chief Development Officer at World Central Kitchen, credited the quick response to the reliable support of partners like Mars, noting that the funding ensures the relief effort remains sustainable as communities begin the recovery process.
Mars Impact Fund Grants $1M to Aid Venezuela Earthquake Recovery
A $1 million grant from the Mars Impact Fund is set to provide over 200,000 fresh meals to families across Venezuela following a series of catastrophic earthquakes. The funding bolsters an ongoing relief operation led by World Central Kitchen, which has already distributed nearly 500,000 meals to survivors in the hardest-hit states.

The initiative extends beyond direct meal distribution. Mars South American branches have donated over 5 tons of cereal, snacks, and pet food to local banks. Furthermore, the Royal Canin Foundation is funding canine search-and-rescue teams from Argentina and Mexico, while Mars, VCA Charities, and Royal Canin U.S. have sponsored the deployment of the Los Angeles Task Force 2 Urban Search and Rescue unit. Mars is also providing internal support for its Venezuelan associates whose families were affected by the seismic activity.
