The achievement marks a significant step beyond the company's previous Type 1 status, moving from theoretical design validation to proven operational consistency. By meeting these strict requirements, Sectra aims to address the specific cybersecurity concerns of German institutions, which are increasingly shifting imaging workloads to the cloud to manage rising data volumes and reduce internal IT overhead.
Sectra Secures German C5 Type 2 Cloud Security Attestation
German healthcare providers now have a higher security benchmark for digital imaging, as Swedish firm Sectra secured the C5 Type 2 attestation. Issued by the Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, this certification confirms that Sectra’s cloud controls have effectively withstood rigorous, months-long performance testing within the Microsoft Azure environment.

Guido Bötticher, Managing Director of Sectra DACH, noted that the validation reinforces the resilience of their enterprise imaging platform against modern digital threats. Beyond the C5 standard, the service maintains CSA STAR Level 2 compliance, providing a dual layer of global and region-specific security. The platform, which utilizes a modular VNA architecture, is designed to scale across clinical departments while ensuring that patient data handling meets the stringent mandates set by Germany’s national cybersecurity authority.
