As the region hosts high-profile gatherings ranging from Comic-Con to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Zone, the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency is expanding capacity on select trains. Managing Director Jason Jewell noted that the rail service is designed to eliminate the logistical burden of driving, allowing passengers to trade congested highways for coastal views and direct drops at key transit hubs.
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner targets summer crowds to ease Southern California gridlock
With Southern California bracing for a surge of summer crowds, the Pacific Surfliner is positioning its coastal rail route as a primary alternative to the region's notorious traffic. By offering direct access to major venues, the service aims to bypass the competitive parking lot scramble during the peak event season.

The service connects 29 stations across a 351-mile route, serving as the busiest state-supported intercity line in the country. For the upcoming Del Mar racing season and the Ventura County Fair, the agency is implementing specific rider incentives, including a 20% discount on fares for fairgoers and complementary shuttle connections to the track. With attendance for these events often reaching hundreds of thousands, officials are urging travelers to secure seats via the Amtrak mobile app or the Pacific Surfliner website well in advance of their departure dates.
