The partnership, which first launched in 2024, aims to reduce the financial and temporal barriers facing working adults. Under the updated terms, students who meet UMGC admission requirements can apply StraighterLine credits toward their degrees, effectively lowering the total cost of their education. The initiative specifically targets fields with high labor demand, including cybersecurity, health information technology, accounting, and project management.
StraighterLine and UMGC Expand Credit Transfer and Tuition Partnership
Independent students seeking affordable degree pathways now have a wider route to completion as StraighterLine and the University of Maryland Global Campus deepen their collaborative agreement. The expansion introduces new tuition savings and streamlined credit transfers for those transitioning into undergraduate programs at the state institution.

StraighterLine CEO Matt Hulett noted that the collaboration focuses on accelerating educational milestones for career-oriented learners. For his part, UMGC chief partnerships officer Chris Motz emphasized that the framework aligns with the university's mission of serving students who balance professional responsibilities with academic goals. Participants will gain access to specialized support systems designed to map out degree pathways that lead directly to industry-recognized certifications.
