Farris brings three decades of experience to the role, including a background in technology and his own entrepreneurial ventures. His career shift mirrors the path he now supports: after building and eventually selling his own company, he spent the last ten years focusing on strategic support for small business owners. This history aligns with the firm’s core mission of helping contractors reach what it terms "Prime" status—a benchmark for operational excellence in the trades.
Ryan Farris Named CEO of Business Development Resources
After nearly three decades at the helm of Business Development Resources, founder Bruce Wiseman is stepping aside to become executive chairman. The Seattle-based firm, which provides coaching and marketing services to home service contractors, appointed industry veteran Ryan Farris to steer the company through its next phase of growth.

Wiseman, who launched the company in 1998 alongside Barry Burnett, described the transition as a necessary step for long-term stability. While shifting into his new capacity as executive chairman, he will continue to consult with the leadership team and maintain ties with the firm’s partners. BDR currently works with thousands of home service professionals annually, providing financial, accounting, and marketing resources intended to scale regional businesses into more profitable, sustainable operations.
