Longstreet joins the company following a career that spans leadership roles at Merck & Co. and Schering-Plough, alongside executive tenures at startups including Exolvo Biosciences and ChromeX Therapeutics. He replaces Walter Greenblatt, who will remain Chairman while transitioning into the role of Chief Financial Officer to oversee the firm’s financial strategy during this expansion.
Brian Longstreet Named CEO of Illuminare Biotechnologies
With three decades of experience across the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, Brian Longstreet has taken the helm as CEO of Illuminare Biotechnologies. His appointment arrives as the New York-based firm prepares to launch Phase 2 clinical trials for its lead nerve-imaging candidate, Illuminare-1, targeting improved surgical outcomes.

The leadership shift aligns with a critical development cycle for the company. Following positive Phase 1 data published in JAMA Surgery, which confirmed the safety and efficacy of rizedisben in robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, Illuminare is shifting its focus toward a Phase 2 trial in breast reconstruction. The company recently secured Series B funding to support these upcoming clinical objectives and accelerate the commercialization of its proprietary imaging technology.
