Heven AeroTech Recruits Defense Veterans to Scale Hydrogen Drone Fleet
Following a 132% surge in staff, Virginia-based Heven AeroTech has tapped defense industry veteran Lexi Alexander as Chief Growth Officer. The move aims to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen-powered, long-endurance drones for federal and international security markets as the company pivots toward rapid industrial scaling.

To bridge the gap between niche hydrogen technology and mass-market defense procurement, Heven has also finalized three strategic leadership hires. Dr. Karen Swider-Lyons, formerly of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, will oversee fuel cell flight endurance as VP of Hydrogen. Samantha Hamilton, previously of BigBear.ai, takes on the role of VP of AI to enhance autonomous mission capabilities, while Gaston Paz—a veteran of Airbus and Bombardier—will manage the transition to scalable global manufacturing. CEO Ben Levinson noted that these appointments provide the specific technical and industrial expertise required to outpace conventional battery-powered systems in both range and mission duration.
