Content Partners and Ed Simpson Launch Creator Platform Wonderloom Media

With over 1.3 billion views on its flagship true crime channel, YouTube has transitioned from a digital disruptor to a primary media incumbent. Ed Simpson, formerly of Wheelhouse, is capitalizing on this shift as CEO of Wonderloom Media, a new venture launched alongside investment firm Content Partners to scale creator-led businesses.

Wonderloom Media marks its entry into the creator economy with the acquisition of Dr. Insanity, a true crime channel boasting more than 5 million subscribers. The new company intends to leverage Content Partners’ history of managing studio-distributed assets to professionalize and expand YouTube-native brands. By providing operational support and diversified monetization strategies, the platform aims to transform independent channels into long-term media businesses.

Ed Simpson, who previously helped scale Wheelhouse and oversaw the sale of Leftfield Entertainment, will lead the firm’s strategy. According to Content Partners founders Scott Hemming and Alphonse Lordo, the initiative is designed to evolve static content libraries into active, high-quality programming. Legal counsel for the transaction included Willkie Farr & Gallagher, Paul Hastings, and Baker & Hostetler, with Night advising the Dr. Insanity team.
