The acquisition marks a calculated expansion for the Italian-based recycler, which already operates across France, Spain, and Poland. The Gniew site, located 300 kilometres from the existing Tuszyn branch, provides Aliplast with a complete sorting, grinding, and washing line. This integration is designed to streamline logistics and bolster the company’s ability to serve the local Polish market directly.
Aliplast targets 210,000-tonne capacity with Polish acquisition
By securing a 70% stake in the newly formed Kronos Polymer Polska, Aliplast is set to consolidate its footprint in the European recycling sector. The deal, expected to close by the end of 2026, grants the Hera Group subsidiary a high-tech facility in Gniew capable of processing 12,000 tonnes of polyethylene annually.

This move aligns with the broader Hera Group business plan to scale up resource regeneration. Beyond the Polish expansion, the company is investing in domestic infrastructure, including new rigid plastics recycling facilities in Modena and Borgolavezzaro. Once these projects reach full operational status, Aliplast aims to double its annual recycling capacity to over 210,000 tonnes. CEO Michele Petrone noted that the strategy specifically targets rising demand for recycled materials, a shift accelerated by new European packaging waste regulations. The transaction remains subject to standard conditions, including the finalization of the corporate demerger and the transfer of necessary environmental permits.
