Gauthier will serve as a Class II director alongside incumbents Rick Pierce and Jon Lieber. Her appointment brings substantial expertise in commercial scaling and biomanufacturing to the biotech startup. Since 2025, she has served as Senior Vice President and Regional Head for Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom at Moderna, where she managed national health security partnerships and complex supply chain operations. Her background also includes a tenure as General Manager of Moderna Canada, where she oversaw the distribution of 50 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Moderna Executive Patricia Gauthier Joins Decoy Therapeutics Board
At its annual meeting on July 14, Decoy Therapeutics stockholders elected Patricia Gauthier to the company’s board of directors. Gauthier, a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive currently leading regional operations for Moderna, joins the board as the Cambridge-based firm prepares to transition its D-MAV antiviral platform toward clinical testing.

Decoy Therapeutics is betting that Gauthier’s experience will bridge the gap between laboratory innovation and real-world distribution. The company is developing Designable Multi-Antivirals, or D-MAVs, which utilize an AI-assisted platform to target shared viral mechanisms across multiple pathogens. According to CEO Rick Pierce, Gauthier’s ability to navigate global health systems will be essential as the company moves its lead candidates out of development and into human trials. Gauthier noted that she views the transition from scientific theory to patient access as the primary challenge, emphasizing the need for adaptable, scalable solutions to combat future viral threats.
