Ralph Nader and Legal Experts Convene Second Impeachment Symposium

Consumer advocate Ralph Nader and constitutional attorney Bruce Fein are set to host a high-profile symposium on July 22, 2026, at the Senate Visitors Center. The gathering brings together lawmakers and legal scholars to debate the constitutional grounds for removing President Donald Trump from office amid deepening political tensions.

The agenda targets a wide array of alleged executive overreach, ranging from the conduct of unauthorized wars and bribery to the weaponization of prosecutorial power against political opponents. Organizers intend to move beyond theoretical discussion by exploring concrete strategies for curbing presidential authority, including the promotion of House Resolution 1155 and the mobilization of state-level legal authorities.

The roster of speakers reflects a bipartisan and multi-disciplinary effort to challenge the current administration. Confirmed participants include Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN), former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter, and UC Berkeley Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinsky. They will be joined by constitutional scholar Michael J. Gerhardt and representatives from organizations such as the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. Congressman Al Green (D-TX) is also expected to attend.

Proceedings will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Room 201-00 of the Senate Visitors Center. The event, which serves as the second in a series of watershed discussions, is co-sponsored by RootsAction, Free Speech for People, and Essential Information. Attendees must register by July 19 to secure their place at the session.
