Managing international ecommerce for eight distinct apparel brands requires a sophisticated infrastructure to handle shifting tax laws, fraud protection, and global logistics. KnitWell Group opted to appoint ESW as its Merchant of Record, a move designed to offload operational burdens from its internal teams. By centralizing these functions, the company intends to maintain a consistent customer experience across its diverse portfolio, which also includes Talbots, Chico’s, and Soma.
KnitWell Group Taps ESW to Scale Global Ecommerce Reach
KnitWell Group, the retail powerhouse behind brands like Ann Taylor and LOFT, has enlisted ESW to manage its international expansion. The partnership aims to streamline the complexities of cross-border operations, including logistics, duties, and regulatory compliance, following a rapid seven-week integration phase for the eight-brand portfolio.

Bruce Neal, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Operations at KnitWell, noted that the collaboration prioritizes ease of access for international shoppers without complicating backend processes. ESW’s platform now oversees the intricate details of cross-border trade, allowing KnitWell’s brand managers to focus on product strategy and market growth. The initial rollout, which reached completion in just over seven weeks, serves as a foundation for further localization and customer experience testing in the coming months.
