The primary objective involved the extraction, treatment, and disposal of methyl methacrylate (MMA) stored in two tanks at the manufacturing site. Arcwood coordinated directly with regulatory agencies and GKN Aerospace leadership to manage the materials, citing a commitment to safety protocols throughout the disposal process. This phase marks a significant step in the facility's ongoing operational reset, allowing the plant to maintain its long-standing role in producing advanced aircraft windows.

Carol Roos, Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer at Arcwood, emphasized that the project required a technical approach to mitigate risks for both personnel and the environment. Steve Carlin, Senior Vice President at GKN Aerospace, noted that the successful completion of these works secures the plant's future, preserving a manufacturing legacy that has spanned six decades in Garden Grove.
