Battery Recycling Surge Highlights America's Electrified Shift

With Americans increasingly reliant on power tools, e-bikes, and energy storage, the demand for responsible disposal has hit a new high. The Battery Network’s 2025 Impact Report reveals that consumers are actively seeking out recycling channels, driving a record-breaking year for material recovery and collection infrastructure across the country.

Battery Recycling Surge Highlights America's Electrified Shift

In 2025, Americans diverted more than 9.3 million pounds of batteries from landfills, according to The Battery Network. This uptick in participation coincides with a 42% increase in consumer searches for local drop-off points, suggesting that public awareness is finally catching up to the ubiquity of rechargeable devices. The organization expanded its reach significantly, adding 3,100 new collection sites to ensure that four out of five Americans now reside within 15 miles of a disposal location.

Leo Raudys, CEO of The Battery Network, noted that the data proves a clear correlation between infrastructure availability and consumer responsibility. Beyond general recycling, specialized programs saw notable gains: the e-bike battery initiative reclaimed 50,000 pounds of material, while the OneDrum collection solution saw a 26% growth in shipments. With 31 new corporate stewards joining the network this year, the organization is positioning its logistics and compliance systems as the backbone of a domestic circular economy designed to reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
