The acquisition centers on DMX-652, a selective USP30 inhibitor designed to support mitochondrial quality control in damaged kidney cells. Administered as an oral capsule, the drug targets patients at high risk for acute kidney injury following cardiac surgery—a condition currently lacking approved preventative therapies. The agreement includes the assignment of composition-of-matter patents valid until 2041 and an existing US Investigational New Drug application.
Dimerix Acquires Phase 2-Ready Kidney Asset from Mission Therapeutics
Dimerix Limited has acquired the clinical-stage asset DMX-652 from Mission Therapeutics, securing a potential first-in-class treatment for acute kidney injury. The deal grants the Australian biopharmaceutical company full ownership of a US-approved Phase 2 clinical program, broadening its renal pipeline beyond existing rare disease research.

Dimerix will pay an initial US$5 million, with further payments tied to clinical milestones, marketing approvals, and sales performance potentially reaching US$292 million. The company expects to initiate the Phase 2 trial in 2027, leveraging existing infrastructure from its ongoing ACTION3 program for focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. Current financial reserves, bolstered by recent commercial rights agreements, are slated to fund the development of both the DMX-200 and DMX-652 programs.
