Graybar Expands Northeast Footprint with Samson Electrical Acquisition

St. Louis-based Graybar is set to acquire New Jersey distributor Samson Electrical Supply in early August, marking the company’s third strategic expansion of 2026. The deal integrates the South Plainfield firm into the Fortune 500 giant while maintaining its original branding and local leadership team.

Samson Electrical Supply, which has operated since 1949, serves a diverse client base ranging from residential and commercial developers to industrial and utility providers. By folding the company into its portfolio, Graybar gains a deeper foothold in the New Jersey market, building on its prior acquisitions of Broken Arrow Electric Supply and American Electric Supply earlier this year.

Kathleen M. Mazzarella, CEO of Graybar, noted that the move is designed to bolster regional service capabilities. Under the new ownership, the Samson team will retain its existing supplier relationships and operational identity. Michael Cohen, president of Samson, stated that the transition offers the firm access to broader logistics resources and growth opportunities while preserving the long-standing values that defined the company’s multi-generational history.
