AerCap and AFI KLM E&M Partner to Form LEAP Engine Leasing Venture

AerCap and Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance have finalized a 50/50 joint venture to address the rising demand for LEAP spare engines. The agreement, which follows a 2025 memorandum of understanding, aims to provide dedicated leasing support to operators of LEAP-powered aircraft globally.

The new venture plans to acquire approximately 40 CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines to bolster fleet availability. Deliveries are scheduled to roll out through 2032, with the initial four units slated for service by early 2027. The partnership integrates AerCap’s engine leasing portfolio with the extensive technical maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities of AFI KLM E&M.

Tom Slattery, Executive Vice President at AerCap Engines, stated that the collaboration provides flexible support solutions for airlines facing capacity constraints as LEAP-powered fleets expand. Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President at Air France-KLM E&M, added that the move is a strategic step toward securing long-term access to critical spare assets, pending final regulatory approvals.
