Developed by Liberty Mutual and the agency Bandits & Friends, the character was physically crafted by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. This marks the company's first new character introduction in eight years, joining the established duo of LiMu Emu and Doug. The rollout spans television, streaming platforms, and creator partnerships, signaling a continued commitment to character-led marketing within the competitive insurance sector.
Liberty Mutual Transforms Viral Ad Flub Into New Brand Mascot
Liberty Mutual Insurance has officially debuted Liberty Biberty, a fuzzy, yellow creature born from a 2019 commercial blooper. By transforming an actor's struggle to pronounce the company name into a tangible brand asset, the insurer aims to leverage existing cultural recognition to anchor its latest multi-channel advertising campaign.

Jenna Lebel, Chief Marketing Officer for US Retail Markets, described the addition as a way to remain culturally relevant while reinforcing the brand's distinct identity. According to Nicholas Bauman of Bandits & Friends, the team sought to capitalize on the phrase's organic popularity by manifesting the feeling of secure coverage into a physical form. The company maintains that Liberty Biberty will complement, rather than replace, its current creative assets as it seeks to deepen long-term consumer recognition.
