The new ball incorporates TRUEBOUNCE natural rubber, Encore+ pressure retention, and LongPlay+ felt, each targeting a specific failure point in standard tennis balls. According to David Malinowski, Vice President of Racquet Sports for North America, the design goal was to ensure consistent responsiveness from the opening serve through the final game. The manufacturing process distinguishes itself by maintaining vertical control over the natural rubber supply chain in facilities located in the Philippines and China, a strategy intended to minimize inconsistencies in the raw material.
Penn Refines Tennis Ball Longevity with Pro Marathon+ Launch
Tennis manufacturer Penn is rolling out its Pro Marathon+ ball, a redesigned iteration of its signature product aimed at extending playability. By integrating proprietary core compounds and specialized felt, the company claims to have addressed the common issues of pressure loss and surface wear that plague competitive matches.

Global Director Stefano Cavuto noted that the thinner wall construction and refined core geometry offer players a more responsive impact and improved spin potential. Beyond mechanical performance, the product launch includes an updated packaging system utilizing BioForge technology. This material is designed to accelerate biodegradation while maintaining recyclability, marking a shift in the brand’s approach to environmental impact. These upgrades arrive as the company, now a subsidiary of HEAD, seeks to maintain its market share in the professional and amateur tennis sectors.
