Natural Secures $30 Million to Build Financial Rails for AI Agents

San Francisco-based fintech startup Natural has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round, just 193 days after its inception. Led by Kirsten Green of Forerunner, the capital brings the company’s total funding to over $40 million to support its mission of creating a dedicated payment infrastructure for autonomous AI agents.

As AI agents transition from simple chatbots to active economic participants, they require specialized tools to hold, move, and manage currency across global networks. Natural is betting that these agents will soon become primary financial actors, necessitating a dedicated stack for tasks like invoicing, purchasing, and handling complex compliance requirements. CEO Kahlil Lalji argues that the shift from human-executed to machine-executed payments is already underway, requiring a move away from legacy banking systems that were never designed for non-human operators.

To address this, Natural has launched six core products, including FDIC-insured wallets, secure vaults, and payment request tools. The company plans to expand its offering throughout the year with additional features such as credit lines, per-API-call billing, and voice-based PCI data collection. Despite being founded less than a year ago by Lalji, Eric Wang, and Walt Leung, the firm has rapidly built its own ledgering, settlement, and fraud detection primitives. With a lean team of 17, the startup is now scaling its infrastructure to meet the demands of an evolving digital economy where agents act as merchants and financial entities.
