Sylvan transitioned into business ownership after selling his previous scientific instrument design company, seeking a service that provides tangible value to his community. Preservan utilizes an epoxy-based wood rot repair technology to extend the lifespan of decks, siding, and structural wood features. This model prioritizes waste reduction and financial savings, offering a sustainable path for homeowners often pressured to replace entire structures following weather-related deterioration.
Former Engineer Launches Sustainable Wood Repair Franchise in Lincoln
Logan Sylvan, a mechanical engineer turned entrepreneur, has launched a Lincoln-based Preservan franchise to combat storm-related wood damage. By focusing on restoration rather than full replacement, Sylvan aims to provide local homeowners with a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative to traditional home repairs in the face of harsh Midwest weather.

"Homeowners don't always need to replace," Sylvan noted. "Often they can repair and preserve what they already have." The Lincoln expansion is part of a broader national strategy led by founder Ty McBride, who designed the franchise to scale efficiently through a mobile, low-impact business model. Sylvan intends to grow his operations across the greater Lincoln and Omaha regions, with plans to incorporate additional services like wood staining in the near future.
