Tigerair Taiwan has finalized a deal to equip 15 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. The agreement, signed at the Farnborough International Airshow, includes four firm orders and 11 leased units, deepening a decade-long partnership that has exclusively powered the carrier’s fleet since 2014.

The expansion includes a 12-year EngineWise Comprehensive services agreement, designed to provide the airline with predictable maintenance costs and sustained engine efficiency. Deliveries for the new aircraft are scheduled to commence in 2028. Currently, the airline operates nine GTF-powered A320neo family aircraft alongside nine A320ceo units equipped with IAE V2500 engines.

Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, noted the order underscores the airline's commitment to fuel efficiency as it scales its regional operations. Joyce Huang, chairperson of Tigerair Taiwan, emphasized that the A321neo fleet is central to the company’s growth strategy, aiming to increase passenger capacity while reducing cost per seat. The GTF engine technology is marketed as offering a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and a 75% smaller noise footprint compared to previous engine generations.
