Osaka-based Daicel Corporation has introduced four new grades of its DURACON POM engineering plastic, each containing 30% post-consumer recycled material. The rollout marks a strategic shift for the High Performance Polymers SBU, moving beyond industrial scrap reuse to incorporate materials previously used in the open market.
These materials maintain the high rigidity, wear resistance, and dimensional stability characteristic of the DURACON brand. By offering specialized grades—including a low-VOC option for strict automotive standards and a sliding variant for mechanical components—Daicel intends to replace conventional plastics in high-stress applications. Development continues as the firm seeks to broaden its circular polymer portfolio to meet increasing industrial demand for sustainable supply chains.
