Goodwin University Joins National Network to Support First-Gen Students
With 61% of its student body identifying as first-generation learners during the 2025-2026 academic year, Goodwin University has been named to the FirstGen Forward Class of 2026. The East Hartford institution is leveraging this national recognition to launch a dedicated initiative aimed at increasing student visibility and long-term success.
Goodwin University President Mark E. Scheinberg noted that these students define the institution’s mission through their resilience and ambition. Martina A. Martin, vice president at FirstGen Forward, praised the university for its willingness to align data and campus-wide strategy to create a sustainable environment for learners. This designation marks a shift toward formalizing support structures, ensuring that the experiences of first-generation graduates remain central to the university's academic identity.
