California American Water Launches $2.5 Million Groundwater Project
A $2.5 million investment is currently underway to overhaul groundwater infrastructure across California American Water’s Northern District. The multi-year initiative targets the maintenance and optimization of over 100 wells, aiming to sustain production capacity and ensure regional supply stability through the end of 2027.
Usmita Pokhrel, Senior Manager of Engineering, noted that consistent rehabilitation is essential for maintaining system resilience. Beyond mechanical cleaning and pump testing, the scope of work includes electrical modifications, chemical treatments, and structural piping upgrades. By systematically addressing these groundwater facilities, the utility intends to secure a reliable water supply for its Northern District customers for years to come.
