John Taylor Scales Community Impact Across Utah County

Teenagers facing cancer treatment and those navigating the foster care system found unexpected support this year through initiatives backed by Lindon-based Grit Marketing and Mira Home. CEO John Taylor directed his companies to sponsor the Primary Children’s Hospital prom and host career-focused visits for local foster youth.

The BOSS Bus program, managed by Utah Foster Care, recently brought a group of teenagers to the Mira Home offices in Lindon. Beyond a standard building tour, the visit featured a lunch and informal recreation, culminating in a mentorship session led by Taylor. He emphasized a core philosophy to the students: that one's current circumstances do not dictate their professional trajectory, a principle he actively applies when training new hires at both of his firms.

In a separate effort, Grit Marketing and Mira Home stepped in as primary sponsors for the 4th annual “Under the Sea” prom at Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital. The event provided a traditional dance experience for patients unable to attend their own school functions due to medical treatment. The hospital staff transformed conference facilities into a venue with salon services and formal attire, while also ensuring patients confined to their rooms received “prom in a box” deliveries. Taylor noted that while the foster care visits and hospital sponsorships serve different audiences, they both reflect his commitment to providing opportunities for those at critical turning points in their lives.
