Prosperity Bancshares Reports 20% Earnings Growth Amid Texas Expansion

Prosperity Bancshares posted $168.6 million in net income for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 20.4% increase over the same period last year. The Houston-based financial group, which finalized its acquisition of Stellar Bancorp on July 1, continues to capitalize on a robust regional economy and aggressive expansion across Texas.

The bank’s performance was bolstered by a 29-basis-point rise in net interest margin to 3.47%, alongside a successful integration of American Bank and Texas Partners earlier this year. Excluding non-recurring items—such as merger-related expenses and gains from a Visa stock exchange—net income reached $162.7 million, yielding diluted earnings per share of $1.62.

Prosperity’s total assets climbed to $43.87 billion, a 39% surge compared to June 30, 2025. Senior Chairman and CEO David Zalman attributed this growth to the strength of the Texas economy, which remains a primary driver for the bank’s business-friendly expansion strategy. While nonperforming assets remain low at 0.34%, the firm continues to prioritize its community banking model, recently welcoming former Stellar Bancorp leadership to its board of directors to oversee the integration of 52 additional banking offices.
