General Dynamics Secures $76.6 Billion Navy Submarine Contract
The U.S. Navy has finalized a massive $76.6 billion procurement package, tasking General Dynamics Electric Boat with the construction of 14 new nuclear-powered vessels. This deal, split between five Columbia-class and nine Virginia-class submarines, marks a significant expansion of the nation’s undersea fleet and industrial manufacturing capacity.
Mark Rayha, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, noted that the long-term commitment provides the demand certainty required to sustain workforce recruitment and facility investments. By securing these assets, the Navy seeks to bolster national security through a modernized, expanded submarine force. The parent company, Reston-based General Dynamics, reported $52.6 billion in revenue for 2025 and continues to serve as a primary contractor for defense systems ranging from land combat vehicles to aerospace technology.
