Hyperscale Data Pivots Bitcoin Treasury to Fund Michigan AI Expansion

Hyperscale Data is repurposing its Bitcoin holdings to accelerate the development of its Michigan AI data center, opting to monetize 100 Bitcoin and establish a crypto-backed credit facility. The firm aims to secure capital for high-performance infrastructure while avoiding the dilution typically associated with issuing new equity to shareholders.

The company’s shift in strategy centers on the Michigan Campus, which is currently slated to support a 10-year master services agreement with a major neo-cloud provider. This deal, involving 20 megawatts of initial compute capacity, could generate over $1.2 billion in revenue, with potential for expansion to $3 billion if additional capacity options are exercised. By leveraging its Bitcoin treasury—valued recently at approximately $71 million—the firm believes it can transform dormant digital assets into revenue-generating infrastructure.

To facilitate this, Hyperscale Data has secured a variable-rate credit facility, pledging Bitcoin as collateral at interest rates between 4.5% and 5.0%. Executive Chairman Milton "Todd" Ault III described the Bitcoin treasury as a strategic asset for financial flexibility rather than a passive holding. CEO William Horne emphasized that this move does not signal a change in the company's long-term outlook on cryptocurrency, but rather a functional application of its balance sheet to capture high-return opportunities. The firm plans to maintain a significant portion of its digital asset reserves as it continues to scale its AI compute operations.
