GeoComm and SkyfireAI Integrate Location Intelligence for Drones

A new integration between GeoComm and SkyfireAI connects 9-1-1 emergency calls directly to autonomous drone fleets. By feeding location intelligence into flight systems, the partnership aims to move beyond simple GPS coordinates, providing responders with building access routes and terrain context before the drone arrives on the scene.

Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs often struggle with the gap between receiving an emergency call and navigating to the precise incident site. While traditional drones can reach a destination quickly, they frequently lack the specific environmental data—such as indoor floor plans or complex campus layouts—required for high-stakes decision-making. GeoComm’s DFR Routing addresses this by translating incident data into actionable intelligence, ensuring SkyfireAI’s autonomous systems operate with a clearer understanding of the immediate surroundings.

SkyfireAI, based in Huntsville, Alabama, utilizes this data to enhance its mission planning, 3D line-of-sight analysis, and multi-ship autonomous operations. The collaboration creates a continuous data loop, linking telecommunicators, drone pilots, and ground units through a shared operational map. According to SkyfireAI CEO Don Mathis, the value of a rapid response is only realized when the incoming information is accurate enough to guide decisive action from the moment a call is placed.

GeoComm COO Rose Bentley noted that public safety agencies require more than just speed; they need the assurance that aerial assets are targeting the correct location with sufficient context. By embedding public safety-grade mapping directly into the flight platform, the two companies aim to reduce errors in deployment and improve situational awareness for personnel managing active emergencies.
