State Senator Gerald Boudreaux and Mayor Julius Alsandor joined school leadership at 1040 South Bullard Street to officially open the new building. The project, led by the nonprofit Building Hope with funding from Civic Builders, aims to address long-standing demand for the academy, which currently maintains a waitlist of 350 families. The expansion allows total enrollment to climb from 490 to 720 students across grades 7–12.
JS Clark Leadership Academy Opens New Campus in Opelousas
A 54,000-square-foot campus has opened in the West End of Opelousas, marking a major expansion for the JS Clark Leadership Academy. The facility features specialized academies for allied health and media production, designed to provide students with professional training and college credits before they graduate high school.
The academic model focuses on dual enrollment through South Louisiana Community College, where students can earn up to 60 college credits. Inside the Brittney Boudreaux Allied Health Academy, students work toward Certified Medical Assistant and Emergency Medical Technician credentials. Meanwhile, a dedicated media suite provides space for broadcast and digital journalism production. Beyond these specialized wings, the campus includes a 550-seat gymnasium, science labs, and a commercial kitchen. Dr. Tiffanie Lewis, CEO and founder of the academy, stated that the facility was designed to reflect the potential of the students it serves, creating a space that feels both professional and rooted in the West End community.
