Rivermont Schools Expands Therapeutic Education to Midlothian
A 26,000-square-foot campus at 1221 Alverser Drive will open its doors this fall, marking the 18th location for the Virginia-based network. The specialized facility aims to bridge gaps for K–12 students requiring therapeutic and behavioral support, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for August 13, 2026.
Principal Cynthia Heckstall emphasized that the school relies on a collaborative framework involving families and local districts to ensure consistency between home and school life. The curriculum integrates evidence-based practices such as Applied Behavior Analysis and trauma-informed instruction. Rivermont, which operates under the New Story network, is currently processing student referrals and hiring staff ahead of the official launch. The August 13 open house will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., offering local families and district partners a chance to tour the specialized environment.
