The rebranding process, which spanned from April 2025 through March 2026, physically consolidated the identity of the GMC, Ford, Subaru, and Toyota showrooms situated on Whittlesey Road. Group 1 Automotive Consolidates Columbus Dealerships Under Single Brand
Four dealerships and a collision center along the Georgia-Alabama border now carry the Group 1 name. The transition, completed this spring, marks the final phase of a regional rebranding effort intended to align the Rivertown auto district locations with the parent company's national retail identity and operational infrastructure.

Sam Pakarati, Southeast Market Director for Group 1, noted that the change is primarily a structural alignment for the Chattahoochee Valley market. By bringing the Phenix City and Columbus locations under one banner, the company aims to simplify customer recognition while leveraging the broader resources of its national network. Despite the external shift, the dealerships retain their established local focus, serving the same customer base across the state line without personnel changes.
