Two Louisiana educators, Alicia Alfonso of Arabi Elementary and Cassidy Boggs of East Ouachita Middle School, have been selected for the 2026 Extraordinary Educators cohort. Chosen from over 170 national nominees, they are recognized for their commitment to student growth and effective classroom application of i-Ready learning tools.
Alfonso and Boggs join a group of 26 teachers nationwide selected for their ability to utilize data-driven instruction and foster inclusive learning environments. The recognition program, now in its seventh year, highlights educators who demonstrate a consistent, high-impact approach to classroom management and student engagement.
For Alfonso, the title validates her focus on building student confidence, noting that her classroom functions as a space where children identify as mathematicians and problem solvers. Boggs emphasized that the honor reflects a broader philosophy of passion and the necessity of maintaining a growth mindset for every student, regardless of the challenges they face in the curriculum.
As part of the program, the honorees will participate in a yearlong professional learning community. This includes leadership development opportunities and access to an annual summit designed to facilitate collaboration among education leaders. Curriculum Associates, the organization behind the initiative, stated that the selection process involved a rigorous review by company staff and an advisory panel of alumni to ensure diverse representation across the cohort.
