Kwanza Jones Brings Culture In Motion to the Northeast

Cultural architect Kwanza Jones is bringing her Culture In Motion initiative to the Northeast, launching a series of community engagements across Boston, Philadelphia, Newark, and New York. The program serves as the debut project for the Producing Partner initiative, aiming to redefine how philanthropy fuels local creative ecosystems.

The roadshow represents a departure from traditional grantmaking. By integrating funding with operational expertise and strategic guidance through the Impact Multiplier model, the initiative seeks to provide artists and cultural organizations with more than just temporary capital. Jones, who co-founded the Jones•Feliciano Initiative with José E. Feliciano, emphasizes that the goal is to build infrastructure that sustains communities long after the tour departs.

In partnership with The Apollo, the project extends the historic Harlem institution’s reach, blending its legacy of artistic advocacy with the empowerment-focused programming of Jones’s studio, SUPERCHARGED. Local leaders and artists are integrated into the planning process, ensuring that the collaborative events remain responsive to the specific identity of each city. This approach acts as a replicable blueprint for modern philanthropy, prioritizing long-term institutional stability over intermittent support.
