Financial results were heavily impacted by $152 million in workforce rebalancing charges, a strategic move intended to reduce annual operating expenses by up to $500 million by fiscal 2028. Kyndryl Posts Quarterly Loss Amid Workforce Restructuring
Conflict lead: While Kyndryl reported a $55 million net loss for its fiscal first quarter of 2027, the technology services provider maintained its full-year financial outlook, buoyed by a 34% surge in hyperscaler-related revenue and strong demand for AI-led modernization services despite significant operational streamlining costs.

Chairman and CEO Martin Schroeter highlighted shifting market dynamics, noting that while the firm faced higher operational costs, it secured $3.9 billion in new signings during the quarter. Growth in the Kyndryl Consult division, which rose 10% year-over-year, alongside expanded AI orchestration capabilities, suggests a pivot toward higher-margin modernization projects. Despite the current cash usage of $401 million, the firm reaffirmed its fiscal 2027 guidance, projecting adjusted pretax income between $600 and $700 million.
