Insilico Medicine has nominated ISM9077 as a preclinical candidate, marking the 32nd drug discovery milestone for the company since 2021. Designed via the Chemistry42 generative AI platform, the molecule functions as a first-in-class Target Y inhibitor, potentially offering a non-invasive eye drop treatment for chronic ocular conditions.

Beyond its primary ocular focus, ISM9077 is categorized as a pipeline-in-a-drug candidate due to its ability to modulate pathological inflammation. This mechanism suggests broad therapeutic potential for age-related and inflammatory conditions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders. Alex Zhavoronkov, CEO of Insilico Medicine, emphasized that the candidate aligns with the company’s dual-purpose strategy of treating specific pathologies while simultaneously targeting biological aging. With the global ocular disease market projected to reach $71.58 billion by 2034, the company aims to move ISM9077 toward clinical translation, banking on its favorable safety profile and potential for both oral and topical delivery.
