After passing the $100 million threshold in annual retail sales, Boulder-based pet food company I and love and you has appointed Dan Waters as its new chief executive officer. Waters, a veteran of the consumer packaged goods sector, takes the helm as the firm integrates its recent acquisition, Made by Nacho.
The leadership shift comes as the company leverages its portfolio—now including the culinary-focused Made by Nacho brand—to capture a larger share of health-conscious pet owners. Waters will work directly with celebrity chef and Made by Nacho co-founder Bobby Flay, who serves as the company’s chief culinary officer. With products currently available in over 30,000 retail locations, the firm is prioritizing growth in the premium cat category, which now accounts for more than half of its total business. Cara Hoy, managing director at majority stakeholder L Catterton, noted that Waters was chosen specifically for his ability to drive profitability while maintaining brand integrity.
