Lindian Resources Secures Full Ownership of Kazakhstan Rare Earth Facility

Lindian Resources has finalized a deal to acquire the remaining 49% stake in the SARECO hydrometallurgical processing plant in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan. By moving to 100% ownership, the Australian company gains total control over a rare, commercial-scale facility outside of China, aiming to start production by the final quarter of 2026.

The US$20 million cash acquisition grants Lindian not only the operational facility but also 15,500 square meters of additional land and warehouses. This expansion provides the infrastructure necessary to process rare earth carbonates from the company's Kangankunde project in Malawi. According to Lindian, the facility has demonstrated a 96% recovery rate for neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr), a metric verified by ANSTO.

Lindian’s Executive Chairman, Robert Martin, stated that the decision to pursue full ownership followed successful due diligence, which revealed greater potential than the initial 51% joint venture model suggested. The company is currently backed by a recent A$100 million capital raise, ensuring it remains fully funded to reach first cash flows. With global demand surging from manufacturers in the United States, Europe, and Japan, this move bypasses the A$500 million cost and multi-year development timelines typically required to build a new processing plant from scratch.
