The summit gathers fellows from 26 countries who have spent their summer supporting 35 different host employers across the United States. During the event, the participants will engage in workshops on intercultural collaboration and meet with Rebecca Pasini, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Private Sector Exchange at the U.S. Department of State. Beyond professional development, the students are scheduled to complete service projects for local organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Baraboo, Hope House of South Central Wisconsin, and Beyond Blessed Pantry.
Global Student Leaders Convene in Wisconsin for Civic Summit
Fifty international college students have arrived in Wisconsin Dells for the Ambassador Johnny and Angie Young Civic Leadership Summit, a program designed to foster cross-cultural cooperation. These participants, currently working in the U.S. through the BridgeUSA Summer Work Travel initiative, aim to develop strategies for addressing global peace challenges.
Since its inception in 2013, the program has trained over 600 individuals to navigate international barriers. James P. Pellow, president and CEO of CIEE, noted that the summit equips fellows with a support network and leadership skills intended to help them tackle issues upon returning to their home countries. The 2026 event is supported by sponsors including Skanska and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, with the latter citing the vital role BridgeUSA participants play in domestic seasonal operations.
