Conversely, tax-exempt money market funds saw an outflow of $4.22 billion, reflecting a shift in investor appetite across the sector.
Money Market Assets Climb to $7.93 Trillion Amid Inflow Surge
Investors poured $18.26 billion into money market funds for the week ending August 12, pushing total assets to a record $7.93 trillion. The latest data from the Investment Company Institute highlights a continued preference for government-backed instruments, even as tax-exempt funds faced a notable contraction in capital.

Retail investors contributed $4.40 billion to the total growth, balancing gains in government and prime funds against a decline in tax-exempt holdings. The current data reflects ongoing adjustments as the market navigates evolving interest rate environments and institutional liquidity requirements.
