Avis Budget Group Investors Face September Deadline in Securities Lawsuit

Investors who purchased Avis Budget Group securities between February 20, 2025, and April 21, 2026, have until September 29, 2026, to file for lead plaintiff status in a pending class action lawsuit brought by the law firm Kahn Swick & Foti, LLC in the Middle District of Florida.

The litigation centers on allegations that Pentwater Capital Management LP orchestrated a market manipulation scheme involving Avis stock. According to the complaint, Pentwater, which held approximately 51% economic interest in the company, engaged in aggressive purchasing that triggered a massive short squeeze. Avis stock surged from an opening price of $147.52 on April 1, 2026, to an intraday high of $765.94 on April 21. Following this peak, the share price collapsed by 74.51%, closing at $182.005 on April 28.

Plaintiffs allege that Avis and certain executives failed to disclose material information, violating federal securities laws during the period. Investors seeking to participate in the recovery effort can contact managing partner Lewis Kahn at 1-833-538-3666. While the September 29 deadline applies to those wishing to serve as lead plaintiff, the firm notes that investors are not required to hold that position to potentially share in a recovery.
