H.W. Lochner Rebrands as Egis to Unify North American Operations

More than eight decades of infrastructure history shifted today as Chicago-based H.W. Lochner officially adopted the Egis name. The move follows a 2025 merger, signaling a strategic effort to integrate the firm’s U.S. presence into the broader global engineering and mobility network of its French parent organization.

The rebranding marks the final stage of an integration process that began on July 23, 2025. By shedding the Lochner identity, the firm aims to leverage its parent company’s international resources to scale operations in transportation, water, energy, and environmental sectors across North America. Laurent Germain, CEO of Egis Group, stated that the unified brand simplifies the company's market position, allowing local teams to tap into a global reservoir of technical expertise to address complex infrastructure challenges.

With a combined U.S. footprint of 1,500 professionals operating out of 70 offices, the firm plans to maintain its focus on the built environment and mobility services. This transition aligns the U.S. entity with Egis’ global workforce of 23,500 employees, who currently operate across 70 countries. The parent organization holds a notable industry standing, ranked 17th among international design firms by Engineering News-Record.
